Cats I have met & photographed on my travels — Part 2

It’s been almost three years since I wrote Part 1 of ‘Cats I have met & photographed on my travels’. I didn’t mean for it to take so long, but this does mean I’ve met even more cats! As a wise woman once said, “Time spent with cats is never wasted”- actually I say that a lot! :-)

Cats of Bulgaria

Bulgaria had it’s fair share of strays (not always in skips) but there were also a lot of lucky humans who had the honour of living with cats. The little black and white cutie ran a restaurant near Belitsa, whilst the big fluff looked down on all who passed below at Bansko.

Cats of Greece

This black kitten in Athens was caught sleeping on the job working alongside his professional beggar pal. Plenty of cats hung out down town or did a bit of bar hopping.

Cats of Malta

Living on a Mediterranean island means fish, chillin’ at a restaurant or naps in the sunshine, not a bad life!

Rainy day in Rabat, Morocco

It was rainy the day I went to Rabat, so most cats had the good sense to stay indoors. However, I still managed to find a few!

Sri Lanka Cats

The first cat I met in Sri Lanka was a dear little kitten I met guarding the donations at Mirisavatiya Dagoba. In Sigiriya, I found a cat growing in a pot and at Ella Rock a community spirited kitty helped tourists find their way back to the accommodation.

Tokyo Cats of Japan

Cats in Tokyo are very good at training human tourists at bringing them food. My friend Toyo, took myself and hubby to Yanaka Cemetery so that we could meet loads of lovely cats.

Norwegian Cats

Norway is usually pretty cold, so the cats there are especially furry. These Norwegian Forest cats are adapted to the super cold climate, with a top coat of glossy, long, water-shedding hair and a woolly undercoat for insulation. Plus they are so cute, they train humans to build them warm and loving homes.

Cats in Andalusia, Spain.

These cats live in the blue village of Júzcar, also known as the Smurf Village (Smurf movies were filmed here). The blue decor contrasts nicely with their gorgeous pale fur.

Italian cats of Venice and Burano

The cats of Venice find employment in shop windows, enticing in customers with their lure of adorability. The black cat of Burano led my husband to a dry café, what a good cat.

Tenerife Cats

Tenerife is full of warm spots for cats to relax while welcoming people to their hotels. At night, they like to hang out at the local Crazy Golf — they don’t play, only judge.

Delightful Turkish Cats

Like Sri Lanka, cats grow in plant pots in Turkey. Alternatively, they sit listening for coded messages from aliens via satellite. I think that the white cat with one blue and one yellow eye may be a Turkish van (that’s a cat breed not an automobile).

Cats of Zanzibar, Tanzania

These African cats hang out in Stone Town, Zanzibar as it’s the place to be seen. Otherwise they come and chat with you in the local parks or at the beach.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and I really hope to be able to travel again someday, if lockdown ever ends. However, I do have two very lovely cats of my own to photograph, see below.
